How to Create a Custom Group

To create a custom audience group:

  1. Login to the Zuddl dashboard and create an event. Learn more about creating an event.
  2. Go to People > Audience. Click on the + Create custom group button.

  3. On the Create Custom Group form, fill in the necessary details:
    1. Group Name: Enter a group name.
    2. Active group: The attendees get automatically added to the active group if they match the filtering criteria. Also, the attendees who register after active custom group creation and still fit with the group filtering criteria get added to that group.
    3. Static group: The attendees who match the filter criteria during group creation. A static group is not updated automatically even if attendees that match the filter criteria register later.
    4. Enable access control: Toggle the enable access control to see the new custom groups on the access control page. You can enable/disable this feature anytime later during the process of custom group creation.

Note: If you’ve missed turning on the Enable access controls toggle while creating a group, you can turn it on later from the filters page.

  4. Click on the Next button to add filters to populate the group list.

  5. To add attendees, you must add a filter to add from the all attendee list. To filter the attendees, click on the + Add filter button. The fields in your registration form are the filters that are used to filter attendees.
  6. Select any filter field from the list and click Done. For example, Email.

  7. Select the required logic based on the field. For example, for the Email filter, select the condition ’contains’ from the list and enter a text string that must be in the email address.

The 'Is a part of invite list' and 'Is not a part of invite list' conditional statements are only available for the Email filter.

  8. Click Add Condition to add more conditions to your filtering logic similarly.

  9. Select the operator between conditions. Choose from the following operator:
    1. AND: use this operator if you want the resultant list to match both the conditions
    2. OR: use this operator if you want the resultant list to match either of the condition

In this case, we used an AND operator so that the email would have a particular text string, and would also be a part of the invite list.

Note: You can only use one operator for an entire filtering logic.

  10. Add more conditions in the same way if required. You can also click Delete Condition to delete a specific condition.
  11. You can also add more filtering logic using other fields similarly.
  12. Click the Apply Filters button to see the filtered attendees on the right pane.

  13. Optional. You can toggle on/off the Enable access control setting from the top bar.

If the 'Enable access controls toggle is not turned on, the custom group won't be visible while assigning attendees to a group.

  14. Click the Create group button in the top right corner to create a custom group. A new Custom groups section in the Audience Groups tab shows the list of custom groups created.

  15. You can manage access permission on the custom groups from the Access Control tab.

A custom group name should not be similar to any default group name. Custom groups, once used, cannot be edited or deleted.

Manually adding attendees

Once your custom group is created, you can manually add them to the custom group. To add attendees manually,

Filters applied on the custom group would not be applicable for attendees added manually. The manually added attendees will be shown in the list regardless of the filters applied.
  1. Go to Attendees menu
  2. For the attendee you wish to assign, click Edit from the more options

  3. Choose the required audience group(s) by selecting the checkbox

  4. Click the Edit Attendee button to add the attendee to the new group.
If multiple groups are mapped to an attendee, that attendee will inherit a combination of all groups. For example, if an attendee is assigned to groups X and Y, one has lobby access, and the other does not. The attendee would be able to access the lobby.
